Xi Jinping's state visit to France – French President Emmanuel Macron will today take the Chinese president to the Pyrenees for a "personal" getaway. The two leaders are expected at the Col du Tourmalet, the legendary climb of the Tour de France. They will have lunch in the mountain restaurant of Eric Abadie, breeder, and friend of the president and will be accompanied by their wives. According to a specialist in international relations at Sciences Po “Macron has always had the idea that his personal relationships could overthrow the political obstacles” however, the researcher warns that in his view “Xi Jinping, he is not really a great sentimentalist”.
