Unemployment reform

Unemployment reform - France’s Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne has just announced a u-turn on the governments plan to reduce the unemployment benefit. The reform on unemployment benefits which comes into force from February 1st was to see a reduction of 40% if the unemployment rate was below 6%, an unpopular move announced during the Christmas holidays. It would appear however that Borne has since buried this idea or at least suspended it, confirming that for the moment and as announced at the end of November there will be a 25% reduction in the duration of compensation for all jobseekers who open their rights from February 1st 2023.
