Several people have been taken into custody after a shooting in the centre of Nice yesterday. The victim was shot in the head on rue de la Buffa and is in a critical condition in hospital. The weapon used in the shooting has reportedly been recovered. Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi, said that the shooting appeared to be a “settling of scores” between two homeless people.

Ski resort Isola2000 has announced that some slopes will be opening next weekend, a week earlier than planned. The Nice Cote d’Azur Metropolitan Area said that the “pre-opening” has been made possible by exceptionally favorable natural snowfall together with artificial snow production. Auron and Isola2000 will officially open on December 6th.

Nine people were arrested during disturbances at the Nice-Marseille football match at the Allianz Riviera stadium on Friday evening. Two of those arrested are being prosecuted. They face a fine of 300 euros and a ban after allegedly being in breach of an order by the prefect prohibiting certain Marseille supporters traveling to Nice.

Five people have appeared in court charged with involvement in a major drugs operation. Thirteen people were arrested last week after the discovery of 239 kilos of cocaine in the port of Marseille. Authorities said that the value of the drugs, combined with another seizure earlier this year in Aix-en-Provence, is 9.6 million euros.

A man in his sixties has been charged and placed in pre-trial detention on suspicion of having murdered his partner. The body of the woman in her fifties was found at her home in the Gard department on Saturday.

Four people appeared in court in Grasse after being detained in a raid on a drugs laboratory. Several dozen gendarmes supported by a helicopter and drones were involved in the operation in La Plaine, a small village near Mougins. Several weapons, over 7,000 euros in cash and drugs were seized. The accused have been remanded into custody until a hearing in January.

A man in his thirties has been charged and placed in pre-trial detention in the Isere department accused of the murder of his partner. The body of the 27 year old woman was found in a burned out car in a village near Lyon last week. According to the Grenoble prosecutor, the man has stated that he pushed the woman during an argument but did not intend to kill her.

Monaco minister Isabelle Berro-Amadei, has taken part in a major global conference supporting the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. She announced that Monaco will increase its financial support to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, stressing that health security depends on solidarity between countries. The fund, created in 2002, raises billions each year to combat these diseases and strengthen health systems in the countries that need it most.
