Shooting in Valence - Two people have been killed in a shooting in Valence. Police have since arrested the man who at 8.30 this morning opened fire in a Pole Emploi agency of the city, killing a counsellor, about twenty people were in the agency at the time of the shooting. The individual then fled in the direction of Guilherand-Granges, west of Valence to company offices where he had worked, before being made redundant ten years ago and shot the director of human resources, who later died from her injuries, forty people were onsite at the time.
Police arrested the man shortly after 9.30am after crashing into his car on the Mistral bridge which links the two towns. Three police officers were slightly injured. Police at this point believe the shooting was an act of revenge. France’s Minister of employment Elisabeth Borne is expected on site.
France’s Prime Minister Jean Castex has expressed his support to the families of the victims saying that the tragedy leaves the whole country in mourning.
