Sophia Antipolis celebrates 50 years - Created 50 years ago on the Côte d'Azur, the Sophia Antipolis Technology Park now boasts nearly 40,000 jobs and is constantly attracting more. This year the site, dubbed the Silicon Valley of the Côte d’Azur, celebrates its 50th anniversary. With up to 60 nationalities represented in the work force company sizes are varied, from the world leader in travel booking Amadeus to small start-ups. The laboratories are private or public, such as Inria, the National Research Institute dedicated to digital sciences, some of whose researchers were involved in the creation of the web. The technology park is currently trading € 5.6 billion euros in annual revenue.
