Round table of “Blue Leaders” at COP 25 - The Ambassador of Monaco in Spain Jean Luc Van Klaveren has reiterated the “Principality's interest in preserving the oceans and recalled the pressures they are under”. Jean Luc Van Klaveren was representing the Principality at the ministerial round table of “Blue Leaders” at the COP 25 conference which took place in Madrid and ended at the weekend.

In addition, the ambassador pointed out that the IPCC Report emphasized that the connection between biodiversity, oceans and climate should be at the top of the international environmental policy agenda and that nature-based solutions, such as Marine Protected Areas, deserved special attention.

The second edition of the “Blue leaders” was co-organized by Belgium and the Principality of Monaco. The “Blue Leaders” bring together Heads of State, Ministers, scientists and activists, for whom the question of preserving the oceans is at the heart of their concerns.
