Protest have taken place in the port of Golfe Juan due to a sharp increase in rents - Hundreds of protesters have gathered in Golfe-Juan to express their anger towards the future rates of the Port Camille-Rayon. Hundreds of local businesses and yachtsman working at the port carried out the "Port mort" operation on Sunday December 1st. The message is clear “it’s a total shipwreck for struggling crew, traders and restaurant owners in the Golfe-Juan marina, badly hit by an unprecedented increase in rents”. Joël Amor, president of the association for the defence of businesses on the port the UPPP.PCR claims, "the amounts demanded are not in line with the local market” he goes on to say that “to give you an idea, I currently pay 1,400 euros in rent for my commercial unit. In 2025, this amount should increase to 2,450 euros without including charges, i.e. a 75% increase. Which is not sustainable". A situation equally criticized by boaters who are renting a small boat space.

So why such an increase? Local media has reported that the answer lies in the public service delegation (DSP) of the Camille-Rayon port, awarded in June to a private Greek company specializing in high-end marinas: D-Marin. The anger is directed not only against D-Marin, but also against the local council.
