Major fire in the Gorges du Verdon

Major fire in the Gorges du Verdon - A major fire has broken out in the Gorges du Verdon destroying 170 hectares. The forest fire broke out on Tuesday July 26th in the early afternoon in the village of Rougon and is still "active" this Wednesday. Firefighters are still mobilized in the area in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near the border with the Var. About a hundred firefighters are on site. The last assessment claims that 170 hectares of vegetation have already been destroyed. Firefighters have specified that if the fire is not brought under control quickly, the risks could increase. No casualties have been reported so far.
