President of association in Nice found guilty of breach of trust - The former president of the "grand quartier" committee 78-year-old Serge Amato, has been found guilty of a breach of trust by the Criminal Court of Nice on Tuesday 26 October receiving a 6-month suspended prison sentence and a ban on practising. Serge Amato said that he was "disgusted by the decision adding that he had nothing to hide". Amato had worked for the association for the last 25 years.

Night of urban violence in northern France - Thirteen vehicles have been set on fire in Alençon Northern France, after a night of urban violence on Tuesday October 26th October. Police and emergency services were targeted as they intervened at around midnight and were forced to retreat. The socialist mayor of the city Joaquim Pueyo has described the incident as "extremely serious". According to reports the group of individuals wanted to protest against the arrest of two young people - currently in police custody - suspected of being involved in a small drug trafficking in the neighborhood. No arrests have yet been made as an investigation is underway.

Some units in French hospitals forced to close temporarily - According to France's Health Minister Olivier Véran "a number of units in French hospitals have been forced to temporarily close, due to lack of caregivers". According to a flash survey conducted by Professor Jean-François Delfraissy, president of the scientific council on Covid-19, about 20% of beds are currently closed in the CHU and CHR of France due to lack of staff.
