Compulsory vaccination for caregivers - From tomorrow Wednesday 15th September, unvaccinated caregivers in France will no longer be allowed to work if they do not present proof that they have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Despite the mobilization against the health pass, the compulsory vaccination of health personnel comes into force on Wednesday. A move introduced by the government to cope with a resumption of the covid epidemic due to the Delta variant.

Trial of former bodyguard of Emmanuel Macron - The trial of Alexandre Benalla, French President Emmanuel Macron’s former bodyguard, has begun in Paris. Benalla is charged with assaulting two young demonstrators during an anti-capitalist protest in 2018, an incident that caused deep embarrassment for a president.

The former bodyguard was identified by the newspaper Le Monde in a video taken in 2018 during a day of demonstrations in Paris. The paper reported that after this revelation, he was put on 15-day suspension, but kept his office at the Elysee Palace.

Macron to visit Nice today Tuesday 14th September - Meanwhile Macron will be visiting Nice today Tuesday 14th September, for the opening of the “Forum of the economy of the sea”. The head of state will be accompanied by Annick Girardin, Minister of the Sea. This is the second time that the Head of State is attending the event after his participation in December 2019 in Montpellier. Macron who is scheduled to arrive at the Acropolis convention centre at 5.30pm today, will discuss with the actors of the maritime world around central themes such as sovereignty, research, maritime transport and new maritime companies.  

The trip will also be an opportunity to take stock of the achievements carried out by the government, such as the Fontenoy du Maritime, the priority research program “Ocean and climate”, the extension of marine protected areas, and the plan “exemplary Mediterranean Sea in 2030”.

Weather warning - Meteo France has placed the Gard region on a red weather alert with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast, with the risk of flooding. Six other departments remain on an orange weather alert; Aveyron, Haute Garonne, Hérault, Lot, Tarn and Tarn-et-Garonne.
