Cannes Film Festival to unveil official selection on Thursday - Organisers of this year’s Cannes Film Festival will unveil the official selection on Thursday April 14th. More than 2,000 films have been submitted for this anniversary edition. The festival returns to its usual dates pre-pandemic, from May 17th to 28th.  Twenty contenders for the Palme d'Or are expected to compete, ten months after the July 2021 edition, which crowned the Frenchwoman Julia Ducournau. If French cinema will once again be well represented, the festival rules, exclude from the competition platform films which are not released in French cinemas.

Traffic jams due to construction of line 4 tramway - Motorists in the Cagnes-sur-mer and Saint-Laurent-du-Var area have been warned of heavy traffic due to archaeological excavations which have been launched as part of the construction of the line 4 tramway, which will run until Friday July 15th. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes such as the A8 or the coast road. The arrival of the tramway in Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer is expected for the beginning of 2026.

Police seize helicopter - Police in the Var have seized a helicopter which had landed illegally on the beach of Cap Taillat in Ramatuelle in the Var. The helicopter was spotted in the middle of the natural area, popular with walkers. An investigation has been launched to find the owner and pilot of the aircraft.

Tourist train returns to the streets of Antibes – Finally, there is a certain air of Spring in Antibes ahead of the summer season, as the little tourist train returns.
