Protest in Nice - The tram and bus network in Nice have been disrupted following protests this morning at Place Garibaldi. The protest against the French government reforms saw 800 people gather according to the CGT of the  Alpes-Maritimes. Motorists have also been advised to avoid the area. 

Fire in apartment in Nice – A woman has died and a firefighter injured after a fire broke out in an apartment in Nice this morning.

The building located on Rue Tiranty is not far from the city’s main avenue Jean-Médecin. Firefighters were at the scene shortly after 7.45 and have evacuated the building. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

Retailers ask for the winter sales to be postponed - Due to the health crisis retailers in France are calling for the winter sales to be postponed.

After several weeks of closure due to a national partial lockdown the request is to postpone the sales which are scheduled for early January, to the end of January because of the disruptions to activity  due to the health crisis.

Ryanair invest in fourth airport in France - The low-cost company Ryanair has announced that it has invested in a fourth airport in France. The Irish company has said that two planes will be permanently based in Beauvais located more than an hour from Paris in northern France

The 165million euros investment is the company’s fourth investment in a French airport after Marseille, Bordeaux and Toulouse.

Working from home - According to a survey Parisian employees want to work remotely but “not too much”.

Employees in Paris and its inner suburbs want to work more days a week at home, but keeping their office as their main place of practice according to the survey published today.

63% of people questioned want to work most of their time at the office, at least three days a week and only 8% want to work exclusively remotely.

EuroMillion Jackpot - Tomorrow evening’s EuroMillions will reach a record 200 million euros. Previously the highest amount up for grabs was 190 million euros an amount won only four times (twice in the UK, once in Portugal, once in Spain).

In France, the winning record is 170 million euros, it dates from 2012.
