Majority of French parents are happy for their children to return to class today - As students across France return to school today a poll by Elabe has shown that a majority of parents (56%) are not worried about letting their children go to class.

The figures from Public Health France are clear: the incidence rate between the year 2020 and the year 2021, on the same date, have exploded. In week 30, the last week of July, there was an explosion of cases among 10-19-year olds, with an incidence rate of 1.088. It was only 4.3, in 2020.

For toddlers, between 0 and 9 years old, the numbers are just as high. In 2020, the incidence rate in children was 0.9, in July. In 2021, at the same time, it rose to 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

It should be noted that according to the last bulletin of Public Health France, the incidence rate was decreasing in all age groups, except among 0-9 years old, where it was stable with 129 contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants.

In the PACA region, the ARS indicates that among 0-19-year olds, it was 446 between 23 and 30 August, well above the threshold of 250 set by the authorities.

According to figures from ARS PACA, 49% of children in the region received at least one dose and 34% received two doses. This places the Alpes-Maritimes department above the regional and national average.

Local MP calls for end to marmot hunting - In a letter sent to the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes on Wednesday, September 1st, local MP Loïc Dombreval has called for an end to “marmot hunting”. Hunting marmots is an old tradition in France with the season due to start on September 12th.  Dombreval went on to say they are a popular animal and an 'easy target' for hunters and while some of them do indeed collect them to eat, others leave them to the great satisfaction of surrounding prey. "

Modifications to line 2 and 3 tramlines in Nice - Due to modifications on line 2 and 3 of the tramway in Nice from tomorrow through until Friday 13th September some stations will be closed.

The stations concerned on Line 2 are: Paul Montel / Les Moulins, Digue des Français and Cadam Center Administratif. On line 3 the following stations are affected: Digue des Français, Paul Montel / Les Moulins, Grand Arénas, Airport Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 2.

The modifications will be made from Monday to Friday inclusive, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. As well as Saturdays September 4 and 11, then Sundays September 5 and 12, 24 hours a day.

A bus sevice will be made available between Cadam Center Administratif  and Grand Arénas, from Monday to Friday, from 10 pm to 4 am. As well as the first two weekends of September (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12).

In addition, the terminus of line 2 "Port Lympia" will not be served early in the morning and in the evening, from September 3 to 13. The terminus of line 2 will therefore be exceptionally located at the "Garibaldi - Le Château" station.

Most popular names for 2022 - Today Thursday 2nd September in the release of the official list of popular names in France for 2022, Emma and Gabriel have been pushed off the top spot by Jade for girls and Léo for boys. The ranking compiled by INSEE and based on civil status data sees Emma and Louise complete the top three for girls. And for boys Gabriel is relegated to second position, and Raphael to third.
