The mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi has announced plans to demolish both the National Theatre of Nice and the Acropolis congress centre in order to extend the Promenade du Paillon. Environmentalists however propose a "a counter-project" that "will correct the existing landscape with a green space" and have appealed to the public, inviting all citizens to join them during workshops that will take place on Tuesdays in November, to "work on proposals".
