Flu and covid vaccines for people aged 65 and over - France’s health authorities have said that it’s safe to give both flu and covid vaccines for people aged over 65 during the same appointment. This autumn in France, the flu jab will be made available in pharmacies from October 26th.

Compulsory vaccination health workers - France’s  Minister of Health, Olivier Véran has announced some "3,000 suspensions" of unvaccinated nursing staff in medical  establishments. The minister also noted "a few dozen resignations". Compulsory vaccination for careworkers was decided on July 12 by Emmanuel Macron and came into force on Wednesday.

France’s foreign minister angry at Australia for breach of submarine contract - France’s Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said that the breach of the submarines contract by Australia “is a stab in the back”. Australia has cancelled the contract with France for the delivery of submarines.

Speaking to French media this morning the minister said “I am angry you don’t do that between allies". Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Thursday confirmed the breach of the € 56 billion contract signed in 2019 with France for the supply of 12 conventional submarines. This agreement was described as the "contract of the century" for French industry.

Favourite monument of the French - Place Stanislas in Nancy has been awarded the favourite monument of the French. Among the 14 monuments put to public vote the monument won the competition.  Listed since 1983 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Place Stanislas was built in the 18th century.
