Pedestrian killed on A8 motorway - A pedestrian has been killed on the A8 motorway this Monday morning. The fatal accident occurred at 6.30am near Mandelieu eastbound, when the 50-year-old man was hit by a truck after reportedly getting out of his car.  An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances.

Quad bike accident - Meanwhile a man has been hospitalised after falling from his quad bike in Tende. The accident occurred at around 9am this morning and the man was airlifted to hospital in Nice.

Presidential elections in France - With 34 days to go until the first round of the presidential elections in France the Constitutional Council will today Monday 7th March announce the official list of candidates. Today Emmanuel Macron is organizing his first official trip as a candidate in the Yvelines.

French foreign minister believes “Ukraine will win” - French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian believes “Ukraine will win”. Speaking to French media on Sunday about the Russian invasion Le Drian did warn of the “destruction and civilian casualties”. Meanwhile in a phone conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Putin claimed he would "achieve his goals" in Ukraine "either through negotiation or war" but denied targeting civilians.

Easing covid restrictions in Monaco - From today Monday March 7th Monaco is easing its covid restrictions with the mask no longer being an obligation in schools. In addition, from March 14th the health pass will no longer be required along with the obligation to wear a mask outdoors however it will still be required indoors, in places open to the public and on public transport.

On Sunday March 6th Monaco identified 2 new positive cases of covid bringing the total number of residents affected to 9,539. Fourteen people are currently in hospital and 81 are being followed by the Home Monitoring Centre. Paris – Nice - French cyclist Christophe Laporte has won the first stage of the Paris-Nice on Sunday. The first stage of the 80th edition of the Paris-Nice started in the French capital and headed for Mantes-la-Ville. Today’s second stage will see competitors cover 159km ending in Orléans.

Football – In the French league the Olympique to Marseille lost 1-0 to Monaco on Sunday.
