16 year old stabbed in Juan Les Pins - Police have opened an investigation after a 16 year old boy was found with serious stab wounds by emergency services on Saturday night in Juan Les Pins.

The victim was taken to Fontonne hospital where he is in a stable condition. Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.  

Last summer the area of the Pinède-Gould saw several police interventions due to gang fights breaking out.

Minister Armed Forces in Toulon today - France’s Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly is expected in Toulon today. The Minister had just nine days ago been in the city following a fire onboard the nuclear submarine La Perle.

The minister is expected at the Toulon naval base and is also expected to board the Charles-de-Gaulle aircraft carrier, the crew of which, had been very affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Citizen council calls for referendum - A citizens' council which had been set up by French President Emmanuel Macron to explore measures for cutting carbon emissions has urged the French leader  to hold a referendum on making the destruction of nature a crime.

The "ecocide" proposal topped dozens of ideas presented by the 150 randomly picked members of the Citizen's Convention on Climate, along with inscribing the fight against global warming in the French Constitution.

But participants voted against submitting a broader package of measures to the public as it wound up three days of debate during its final session on Sunday.

Macron formed the council in response to demands for greater "direct democracy" in the wave of the “yellow vest” anti-government protests in 2018 and 2019.

Jean-Paul Belmondo - French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo has returned to the Côte d’Azur after spending the coronavirus lockdown in his Parisian apartment.

Arriving at his home in Cannes on Saturday the actor was soon spotted on his first outing on the French Riviera, at one of his favourite restaurant’s the Michelangelo in old Antibes run by close friend “Mamo”.
