Road accident - Two motorists have been injured in a road accident this Friday morning on the Route de Montauroux in Adrets de l’Estérel in the Var. Emergency services intervened shortly before 9am. Traffic in the region was temporarily disrupted.

Fire - A fire has broken out at a hairdressing salon in Antibes. Firefighters intervened at around 10pm on Thursday evening on Avenue Louis Gallet in Antibes. Part of the hairdressing salon, located on the ground floor of a 5-storey residential building, was protected from the disaster thanks to the rapid intervention of the fire brigade.

Fugitive suspected of robbery on the Riviera arrested in Paris - A fugitive suspected of several thefts on the Riviera has been arrested in the Paris region. The man is suspected of having participated in the theft of a diamond of 4.5 million euros, in Cannes. The 38-year-old Frenchman has been on the run since November 2020 and was arrested in a shopping centre in Seine-Saint-Denis. He is allegedly part of a gang suspected of the theft of two diamonds, one in Barcelona worth 12 million euros, the other in Cannes estimated at 4.5 million euros.

 Three young people arrested for vandalism - Three young people aged between 15 and 16 years old have been arrested for acts of vandalism in Le Cannet. For two nights, several vehicles, as well as two bus shelters, were vandalised in the Aubarède district. The three culprits were identified through CCTV footage and have admitted the facts.

Presidential elections - While the mayor of Nice Christian Estoris has shown his support for Emmanuel Macron in the Presidential elections the mayor of Cogolin in the Var, is the first elected representative of the PACA region to support Eric Zemmour the far-right candidate. Zemmour has so far totalled 58 sponsorships out of the 500 needed to run in the presidential election.

French President to visit Moscow on Monday - French President Emmanuel Macron has announced this morning that he will be visiting Moscow on Monday February 7th to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Macron will then on Tuesday meet with his Ukrainian counterpart.  The visit comes as France claims it is aiming for a “de-escalation” in the Russian threats to the Ukraine border. The tension remains high with Washington claiming on Thursday to have evidence, without having presented it, that Moscow was preparing a video of a fake Ukrainian attack, a pretext to invade Ukraine. However, in Kiev the Minister of Defense, Oleksiï Reznikov, judged the threat of a conflict as "small".

John Taylor announces record sale in Monaco - The president of John Taylor, one of the leading luxury real estate companies, has announced a record sale here in the Principality. At the end of 2021 John Taylor Monaco achieved the biggest sale in its history. The company said it was “a 9 figure sum which can’t be disclosed, between 100 million and 1 billion euros, adding that it’s probably the biggest sale of a single apartment in recent years in Monaco, and it is not by the sea."
