In UK fully vaccinated could see end to quarantine - According to reports in UK media, ministers are looking at plans which would allow fully vaccinated UK visitors to France to skip quarantine. It’s also been suggested that the number of tests needed on return from countries such as France would be reduced. Under the plans being considered British tourists who visit amber countries which is the current colour listing for France would be able to skip quarantine on return to the UK Ministers are looking at permitting fully-vaccinated ‘British’ travellers who go abroad to amber countries to come back under ‘green’ country rules.

Fete de la Musique - French President Emmanuel Macron has said that a concert will be held at the Élysée, for this year’s Fete de la Musique on June 21st, with "electro music, DJs" citing Jean-Michel Jarre. Due to the pandemic the traditional event did not take place last year. The President also indicated that he would meet with representatives of the nightclub industry, the same day, whose establishments are currently closed to consider the reopening in July.

Storms in southwestern France - Thousands of homes have been without power and dozens of people evacuated after storms hit the southwest of France on Thursday. A 3-year-old child was hospitalised after a century-old tree fell on the family car in the Tarn.

Up to 37,000 homes have been deprived of electricity, mainly in Haute-Garonne and the Tarn. According to Enedis at 7 am this morning 15,000 customers were still in the dark. About sixty people were rescued in several villages around Bordeaux and about thirty people were forced to take refuge in a village hall. Local schools, affected by the floods, will remain closed today.

Cannes Film Festival - Organizers of the Cannes Film Festival 2021 have unveiled the poster for this year’s 74th edition. The Film Festival has chosen to honour the American Spike Lee, president of the jury this year and the first African-American president in Cannes. The Festival, which is to be held from July 6th to 17th, has yet to announce the film that will be screened during the "last screening" after the prize list, as well as the composition of the jury, chaired by Spike Lee.
