Air traffic disrupted again today - Air traffic at Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport is disrupted again today, with several flight delays following an already difficult day yesterday. Most delays affect arrivals, caused by air traffic control regulations.

H.S.H Prince Albert II visited the Monaco Yacht Show - Prince Albert II has visited the Monaco Yacht Show yesterday, meeting exhibitors, viewing a yachting photo exhibition, and boarding eco-innovative vessels. He received a €54,000 donation for his foundation and joined the departure of the catamaran MODX70-01 from Fontvieille port.

Watch theft - A 41-year-old German tourist has been robbed of his €72,000 Patek Philippe watch on a beach in Ramatuelle, Var. Investigators found contact DNA on the victim’s wrist and are analysing CCTV footage from a nearby parking lot. This incident comes amid a wave of luxury watch thefts in the Saint-Tropez area during the summer season.

Bank scam - A 72-year-old man has been scammed out of €12,000 by a fraudster posing as a bank employee, who tricked him into making transfers and handing over his bank cards. Police traced the fake courier, a 29-year-old from Marseille, who admitted to his crimes and will face trial in Toulon, Var.

Franch actor Dany Boon scammed - A man posing as an Irish lawyer is on trial in Nice for defrauding French actor-director Dany Boon of €4.5 million meant for a yacht purchase. He faces up to 10 years in prison for repeat fraud, money laundering, and forgery.

Tram lines disrupted this morning - Tram lines 2 and 3 in Nice were disrupted this morning after a car got stuck on the tracks in the Grand Arénas area. Service was partially suspended for about 45 minutes until a tow truck cleared the vehicle. Thankfully, no damage or collision occurred.

Fire - A fire broke out last night in the kitchen of a seniors’ residence in Carpentras, Vaucluse leaving one person in critical condition and three others lightly injured. All four victims were evacuated, while the cause of the blaze remains unknown.

French jihadist will be tried in Iraq - The French jihadist who voiced ISIS’s claim of responsibility for the 2016 Nice attack will be tried in Iraq alongside 46 other French nationals transferred from Syria.

Farmers protest in supermarket - About 30 farmers from the FDSEA and Young Farmers of the Vaucluse department have protested today in Avignon, targeting supermarkets rather than blocking roads. Their goal was to raise consumer awareness and encourage support for local produce.
 

BUSINESS
US President Donald Trump has announced a $14 billion deal for US investors, including Oracle and Rupert Murdoch, to take over TikTok’s US operations, with Xi Jinping’s approval. The new company will be majority American-controlled, with a US-trained algorithm and “trusted security partners” overseeing data and software. However, ByteDance has not yet confirmed the deal.

And - US President Trump has announced new tariffs starting on the 1st of October, including a 100% levy on branded drug imports unless firms build US factories, plus 25–50% tariffs on trucks and cabinets to protect domestic manufacturers.  Industry experts warn the tariffs favour domestic producers but could raise consumer prices and complicate international trade.
 

SPORTS
Football - Former Spain and Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets will retire from playing at the end of the Major League Soccer season in December.

Cricket - South African all-rounder Graeme van Buuren has extended his contract at Gloucestershire by a further year.

Golf - European captain Luke Donald has opted for two heavyweight pairings - including reuniting Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood - as he looks for a fast start in Friday's opening session of the Ryder Cup against the United States in New York.

Mostly clear today with occasional cloudy patches accompanied by gentle to moderate winds. Highs of 22 degrees in Nice, Cannes and Saint-Tropez, 19 degrees in Toulon and 18 degrees in Marseille.
