NEWS
No Alliance Between Far-Right Parties - The right-wing LR and far-right RN will not join forces, contrary to what Eric Ciotti previously stated. The proposed agreement between RN and LR, suggested by Republicans president Eric Ciotti, has been rejected by LR senators Jean-Baptiste Blanc and Alain Milon. LR will have a candidate in each of the five constituencies in Vaucluse for the early legislative elections. A meeting was held on Tuesday evening at the Vaucluse LR federation, led by departmental chairman Jean-François Périlhou, to discuss these candidacies. The names will be submitted to the nomination committee in the coming days.

New Popular Front Between Left-Wing Parties - A new Popular Front has been formed between the left-wing parties ahead of the early general elections on June 30 and July 7. The left-wing parties: Partie Socialiste (PS), Ecologists, Partie Communiste Français (PCF), and La France Insoumise (LFI) announced they will support single candidatures from the first round. Former Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail (CFDT) secretary general Laurent Berger, known for leading the movement against pension reform last year, could be considered as a candidate. Meanwhile, no agreement has been reached between the far-right Reconquête and RN parties.

Giant Ticks in South of France and Corsica - French Public Health has announced the return of giant ticks in Southern France and Corsica. Although no human infections have been reported in France, the spread among animals is concerning. In Spain, 13 people have died after they had been infected by these ticks, which carry the Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus. The ticks were first detected on cattle in the Eastern-Pyrenees in France in 2023. If bitten, individuals are advised to photograph the tick and visit a doctor within two weeks if symptoms appear.
