Energy Sectors on Strike All Summer - The energy sector is planning to strike in the coming weeks. The CGT Mines-Energy federation issued a strike notice that will affect the gas and electricity sectors of France. The strike, scheduled from June 14 to September 13, covers the period of the Olympic Games. The CGT is protesting a new salary grid below the minimum wage. The union criticizes this as unacceptable, particularly during major events like the Olympics. The first mobilization is set for June 20.

D-Day Commemoration - Commemorations of the 80th anniversary of D-Day continue in Normandy. In Bayeux, Emmanuel Macron honoured the "rebirth of France" in June 1944. US President Joe Biden is expected at Pointe du Hoc in the afternoon. Macron attended a ceremony in Bayeux, where the first Government Commissioner was installed after D-Day, and where General de Gaulle gave his first speech to the French on June 14, 1944. Two days away from the European elections, Macron urged the French to remember their unity as a nation and a Republic, especially in challenging times.

New Fire truck in Antibes - Antibes’ firefighters have acquired a new fire truck for local forest fires. Donated by the Alpes-Maritimes Fire and Rescue Service, it will help quickly respond to fires before firefighters arrive. The truck has a 500-liter tank and will support the 24 volunteers who patrol from June 15 to September 15, preventing fires in Antibes’ forests. This initiative is part of the city's broader fire prevention strategy. The mayor emphasized that the truck would assist in initial fire containment, not replace the firefighters.

Fake Bomb Alerts in Marseille - Banks have been targeted by bombs in Marseille. Several agencies of Credit Lyonnais have received fake bomb alerts via telephone for the past two days. Thankfully, no bombs have been found. An investigation has been opened. If convicted, the culprit behind those hoaxes risks three years of prison and a €45 000 fine.

Autonomy’s Co-Founder Mike Lynch has been found not guilty. British tech tycoon Mike Lynch has been cleared of fraud charges in the US related to the $11bn sale of his software firm, Autonomy, to Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2011. A San Francisco jury found him not guilty on all counts, a major victory for Lynch, who had denied accusations of inflating Autonomy's value. Lynch, who faced over 20 years in prison if convicted, testified that he focused on technology, not accounting. Another Autonomy executive, Stephen Chamberlain, was also found not guilty.

A Scottish woman is suing Netflix for defamation, negligence, and privacy violations, claiming the character Martha in the series "Baby Reindeer" is based on her. She alleges the show falsely portrays her as a convicted stalker and demands over $170m in damages. The series, written by comedian Richard Gadd, depicts Martha as a criminal and includes scenes of sexual assault. Harvey denies these accusations and asserts Netflix did not verify Gadd's story. Despite Netflix's defence, the Scottish woman believes she will win the case, stating she has no criminal record. The lawsuit argues Netflix prioritized sensationalism for profit.

Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has called for an investigation into a stock market crash following the general election. He accused BJP leaders, including PM Modi, of wrongly predicting a stock surge after the June 4 election results, causing losses when the market crashed. Gandhi demands a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigate the alleged scam and the role of BJP leaders. The BJP denies the allegations. Gandhi alleges that the election polls were rigged to show a BJP victory, leading to massive buying of shares on June 3, and a major market crash on June 4.
