British Skier Dies in Tragic Avalanche at Mont Blanc - A 55-year-old British man has tragically died after being swept away by a large avalanche in the French Alps. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in an off-piste sector at Grand Montets, Chamonix, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The avalanche, over a kilometer long and 400 meters wide, struck as ski patrols were preparing to close the slopes. The man was found by the patrol but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue efforts were paused due to dangerous weather and the risk of a second avalanche. The cause of the avalanche is under investigation. Avalanche risk remains high in the region.
