Union opposes minute silence - The union “South Education" has referred to the one-minute silence to be observed in French schools today, as a tribute to former French President Jacques Chirac, as “indecent”. A minute’s silence will be observed this afternoon at 3 pm in the 63,600 schools across France as the French government calls for children to pay tribute to the former president. The union is calling on teachers not to respect it.
