Radio France on strike

Radio France on strike - Radio France has announced strike action today against a drastic savings plan. For the first time, radio is committed to a voluntary departure plan with 299 posts out of 4,600 being removed. The unions have called for strike action in protest against the drastic plan of savings imposed by the government.

According to reports the State plans to reduce its allocation of 20 million euros. In 2015 the former President of Radio France already tried to put in place a plan for 320 positions. However, after a 28-day strike, the plan was dropped.

Meanwhile a few months ago the unions of France Televisions gave their approval, to cut 1000 jobs.

The CGT of Radio France called for an unlimited strike, that it hopes to see to last until December 5th, in order to link its protest with other public companies, against the government’s pension reform.

According to Médiamétrie, the flagship France Inter continues to gain ground, consolidating its position as the leading French radio station.
