Pollution - Local left-wing MP Patrick Allemand, has written to the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi requesting that ships docked in the port of Nice and Villefranche limit the sulfur content in their fuel adding that “the pollution of cruise ships is an important issue for the Côte d'Azur". In Cannes the city council imposed the limit in June for ships docked in the Old Port. France has decided to reduce the maximum quantity by 1.5 to 0.5% by next year.
