Nice Attack update

According to the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi, a local resident alerted the emergency services to the attack on Notre-Dame basilica, using a security terminal installed near the church.

All the churches in Nice have been put under surveillance and closed after the knife attack at the Notre-Dame basilica,

Christian Estrosi, has just spoken to journalists after the knife attack saying that "The author of the acts kept repeating in front of us 'Allah Akhbar' adding that "Nice, like France, is paying a too heavy price by being once again a victim of Islamofascism".

An investigation has been opened by the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office, following the attack.

Police reinforcements are arriving, the inhabitants are confined to their homes. The perpetrator of the knife attack was seriously injured during his arrest, and transported to Pasteur Hospital, according to police.

The research and intervention brigade (BRI) is still inside the Notre-Dame basilica where a knife attack took place this morning.
