Marineland Antibes

Marineland Antibes - France’s last two captive orcas remain stranded in an abandoned marine park, caught in a bureaucratic deadlock. Marineland in Antibes, which shut down in January due to a ban on cetacean shows, has been unable to rehome the orcas, despite several relocation attempts. French authorities have rejected proposals to move the animals to Japan, Canada, and Spain over welfare concerns, while European sanctuary options remain years away from readiness. Animal welfare groups have condemned the delays, warning that the orcas are living in unsafe, neglected conditions with minimal care. Marineland’s owners say urgent action is needed, but legal and logistical hurdles remain unresolved.
