Health Pass- The public is required to produce a health pass showing double vaccination or a negative covid test before being allowed into a range of places from today.

Concert halls ,theatres ,cinemas and fitness clubs are among the establishments where the health pass will be required to enter.

There is sizeable opposition to the new measures with protestors saying France has become a dictatorship and that President Macron should resign.

Castex-The French Prime Minister will appear on live television news shortly to explain why the health pass has been introduced and what further measures could be taken to combat the virulent delta variant of coronavirus.

Some areas have seen infection rates rise far above the national average of 74 cases per 100,000 people and local prefects have reintroduced mask wearing outdoors.

There are reports that curfew measures and local lockdowns could be implemented again if cases continue to spiral.

Jean Castex will be interviewed on the 1pm news on TF1 television.

Tribute march-A tribute to the 32 year old woman murdered in Plan de la Tour in the Var last Sunday is to take place outside the town hall at 6pm this evening.

Heatwave warning-Some areas of the south of France are expected to see daytime temperatures hit 37 to 39 degrees tomorrow according to Meteo France.

The extreme heat is set to affect the south west in particular with Toulouse in the firing line and further east, Nimes and Avignon getting to the high 30s Celsius.

The Cote d’Azur should escape the worst of the heatwave but parts of the Var could hit 35 degrees tomorrow.

Terminal 1-Terminal 1 at Nice Cote d’Azur Airport has reopened today to cope with summer passenger numbers.

The terminal was closed shortly after the start of the pandemic but will only re-open on a temporary basis until the 7th of September.

The move should help the flow of traffic through the airport with the current strict health pass checks resulting in extra delays for passengers.
