Missing person - Mountain recues teams in Isola have appealed to the public for any information, following the worrying disappearance of a hiker in the area. The alarm was raised on Tuesday August 24th, calling for any witnesses after the Belgian hiker disappeared between Isola and Barcelonnette.

The man, named Wouter, measures between 1m70 and 1m75. According to police, he is an experienced hiker and had gone alone on a hike in the area. Should anyone have any information, they are invited to contact police on 04.93.02.01.17

Weather warning - The Alpes-Maritimes has been placed on a yellow weather alert with thunderstorms expected. Tuesday saw parts of the Var affected by thunder and hail storms as Météo France has once again placed the Alpes-Maritimes on alert with a deterioration in the weather expected this afternoon. The warning is in place until 6 pm.

European Court rejects application from firefighters - The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has rejected an application by 672 professional and volunteer firefighters against the Covid-19 vaccination, an obligation imposed on them by law in France on August 5th, 2021.

President of scientific council in favour of booster dose - The president of the scientific council Jean-François Delfraissy has said he is in favor a third dose of the vaccination against covid. Invited this morning to the program "Télématin" on France 2, the professor said that a "third dose" would be necessary "for a large part of the vaccinated population". He added: "I will be vaccinated a third time as soon as I can do it."

The High Authority for Health recommended on Tuesday a booster dose for those over 65. The booster injections should begin in mid-September.

Health measures extended in Martinique - Health measure have been extended in the Martinique. The lockdown and curfew in force since July 30th on the island have been extended for three more weeks, until September 19 inclusive. The move comes as part of the fight against the spread of the virus. The prefect explains that "the current health situation does not allow the lifting of  current measures".
