Speeding -Police from the region's Road Safety Squadron have report several speeding offenses on partially deserted roads during confinement. On Thursday morning a motorcyclist was flashed doing 190 km / h on part of the A8 motorway between Nice and Monaco which is limited to 110km/h. Another motorist was caught speeding at 198 km / h and two others were stopped at 7 p.m. driving at 182km/h and 163km/h.

Man arrested for delivering drugs during confinement - Police have arrested a 23 year old man in Mandelieu after he was walking the streets after the curfew, in place as part of the confinement measures. The man was reportedly delivering drugs in the area. Police discovered 200 grams of cannabis resin and more than 2,000 euros of cash. 

According to reports "Uber for drugs" during confinement is rather succesful the region, seeing the price of 25 grams of cannabis resin increase from around 80 euros to almost 140 euros. 

Professor Didier Raoult - In his latest study, the infectious disease specialist Professor Didier Raoult reviews the results of treatment with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin: almost 91% of patients are said to have recovered from Covid-19.

"Safe and effective treatment for Covid-19". The latest study carried out at the IHU - Méditerranée Infection in Marseille on the treatment of the new coronavirus with the hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin combination was published this Thursday evening. It brings together a group of 1,061 patients who are Covid-19 positive and who were not previously included in the institute's previous studies.

Of these 1,061 patients, virological healing was observed in 973 people in ten days, representing an efficacy rate of treatment with the hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin combination of 91.7%.

Professor Didier Raoult met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Marseille on Thursday, an unannounced visit by the Head of State which has caused some debate. Macron claimed his visit was to show his interest in all the research in progress on the Covid-19.

Controls stepped up over Easter weekend - Controls are being stepped up across the region and France for Easter weekend. The authorities fear a relaxation of confinement measures.

After Paris, it is in Alsace, a region very affected by the virus, that any individual sporting activity will be prohibited during the day from the weekend. A similar measure has also been taken in Saint-Etienne.

In the Bouches-du-Rhône, where holidays also begin this weekend, confinement controls will be reinforced on the coast, on the motorway and in the mountains.


Record temperatures for begining of April - Météo France has said that record temperatures were reached on Thursday in France for this time of year.  With 27.1 ° C, recorded in Paris . Other cities in the North of the country had reached, on Wednesday, a new temperature for the beginning of April: 25.3 ° in Rouen, 24.9 ° in Lille, 24.5 °  in Saint-Quentin.
