The Channel Islands and France sign agreement in the event of a nuclear or radiological incident - The Channel Islands and France have signed an agreement to share information in the event of a nuclear or radiological incident. The document was signed during an meeting on Monday between Guernsey and Jersey ministers, joined by French representatives. France's Préfet of la Manche, said the agreement marked "the common willingness to further discussions in order to guarantee rapid and relevant responses in the event of a nuclear incident". According to the States of Guernsey and the Government of Jersey, the meeting aimed to "strengthen diplomatic relationships and identify future areas for collaboration". Other discussion topics included renewable energy and marine management.

Farmers protest in the Var - In other news locally, farmers in the Var region are planning protests today, Wednesday 27th November. As part of the ongoing movement dubbed "Operation justice for agriculture" the Young Farmers and the FDSEA union are to meet in Draguignan. In Le Cannet des Maures, last Monday, around 200 farmers with 50 tractors blocked the roundabout at the motorway access.

Rally in support of environmental activist Paul Watson - A rally is being organised in the port of Saint-Tropez this weekend in support of the environmental activist Paul Watson. The association "Je fais ma part" is organizing the event to defend Watson who has been imprisoned since July 21st. Participants will meet on Saturday, November 30 at 4:30 p.m. in front of the statue of the Bailli de Suffren on the port of Saint-Tropez. The demonstration is symbolically planned a few days before the date of his next hearing, on December 2nd, the day of his 74th birthday. Plans to improve and renovate district in Nice - Plans have been announced by Nice city council to improve and provide a new green space, along with parking and shops in the Madeleine district. Work is due to get underway next year and is expected to last until 2027 with a 320-space car park being inaugurated at the end of 2026. The mayor presented the project of the Madeleine this week, referring to the area as “one of the flagship neighbourhoods in the east of Nice”.

Dates Nice Jazz Festival - The dates of next year’s Nice Jazz Festival have been announced. The event is to return to the Jardin Albert 1er in Nice on Thursday 24th of July until Sunday 27th. The lineup has not yet been confirmed, but the online ticket office has already opened allowing you to take advantage of a Limited-Edition Pass "offering access to all stages, every day”. The town hall promises an "exceptional edition for 2025”.

Fan’s song used as official anthem for Monaco football club - A fan of AS Monaco football team has spoken of his delight after a song he wrote, recently became the team’s official anthem. Long-time supporter Yann Zeppegno wrote and composed "Rouge et Blanc" back in 2004 after one of the most important matches in the club’s history, qualifying for the semi-finals of the Champions League. But it was only this year, to mark the 100-year celebration’s that the song really made its return to the Louis-II stadium being played at the end of the fireworks.

Flying car showcased in Monaco - The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation hosted the Air League of Monaco’s ‘Flying Car Experience’ here in the Principality on Tuesday evening. The event showcased the PAL-V uniting road and air mobility through FlyDrive solutions, to overcome natural barriers, congestion, and damaged or missing infrastructure. Their mission is to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, save time, and connect remote areas with innovative and sustainable products. Retail experts have warned Black Friday shoppers to be wary of deals in order to avoid being ripped off. According to research by consumer group Which? nine out of 10 Black Friday offers are cheaper or the same price at other times of the year. Black Friday originally marked the day after Thanksgiving in the US but in recent years the sales have extended into the weeks before and after, with Cyber Monday driving millions in online sales.

London's Smithfield meat market is set to close after more than 800 years, with trading expected to cease for good after 2028. The City of London Corporation, said on Tuesday its council voted to stop operating Smithfield and Billingsgate fish market. The group said it will provide financial compensation to the traders, who will be able to continue at both markets until at least 2028.

Popular US fast food chain Dave's Hot Chicken is reportedly concerned that customers in the UK won't be able to hack one of its famously spicy dishes as it prepares to open its first UK site. The chain, founded in LA in 2017, is opening the outlet in London Piccadilly on 7th December. Dave’s Hot Chicken has seen rapid growth in the US, acquiring 200 sites in just six years.
