Louvre heist shocks Paris -A bold robbery at the Louvre Museum has stunned authorities and art lovers on Sunday morning. At around 9:30 a.m., a team of four thieves used a crane to access the Galerie d’Apollon from outside and smashed through reinforced windows with power tools. Within minutes, they escaped with eight 19th-century royal jewels described as “inestimable” in value. Among them: a sapphire and diamond necklace worn by Queen Marie-Amélie, and Empress Eugénie’s diamond tiara containing nearly 2,000 stones. A ninth item, Empress Eugénie’s crown, was left behind and is being examined for damage. France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has called the heist “particularly rapid and violent.” A full-scale investigation is underway, with police still searching for the suspects.

Saint-Tropez debates new mooring zones - In Saint-Tropez, two new mooring zones are under review to better manage rising boat traffic in the Gulf. The proposed areas would be just outside Port du Pilon and in the Baie des Canoubiers. Officials say the environmental assessment is nearly complete, with €35,000 in extra funding approved for further studies. The total project budget is estimated at €3 million — a figure that has drawn criticism from opposition councillors, who say it's too high and lacks clear financial planning. Mayor Sylvie Siri insists the moorings will remain under municipal control and are essential for managing the 200 boats often anchored in the area. Final decisions will follow further consultation with local users.

Vence fire – woman rescued from blaze – Locally, firefighters in Vence responded to a serious house fire early Sunday morning at a villa on Impasse des Cambreniers.
A woman in her thirties was trapped upstairs as black smoke filled the home. Emergency crews deployed eight vehicles and 26 firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
She was safely rescued and taken to Antibes Hospital with no major injuries. The fire, which started on the ground floor, was extinguished shortly after. Authorities are now investigating the cause.

Nice Tram project on schedule - In Nice, the future T4 tram line remains on schedule despite public concerns. That’s according to Gaël Nofri, president of Lignes d’Azur and vice-president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. Nofri addressed growing questions around both the T4 and T5 projects, which are key infrastructure developments ahead of the 2026 municipal elections.
While full construction details haven’t been released, officials are reassuring residents that the timeline is holding firm amid political pressure and scrutiny.

Airbnb listings drop in Alpes-Maritimes - Airbnb listings have dropped in the Alpes-Maritimes this year, reflecting a broader national trend. As of 2025, just over 41,600 short-term rental listings have been recorded, down from 47,000 in 2024. In Nice alone, listings fell by more than 1,500. The decline follows years of rapid growth and may be linked to increased competition and mounting pressure for tighter regulation. Advocacy groups are calling for stronger action to protect permanent housing and address the local housing crisis.
