Forest Fire in the Alpes-Maritimes

A fire broke out just before 3pm on Monday afternoon in Le Broc, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Three water-bombing helicopters are on site. They are attempting to extinguish the flames by drawing water from the Lac du Broc. According to initial photographs, the area concerned is slightly below the village of Le Broc. According to the Gendarmerie, no evacuation is necessary at this stage, as the fire is in a sparsely populated area. However, the Route de l'Estéron (RN2209) just above the lake is currently closed to traffic due to the fire.
