Father of student killed in Monaco crash calls for justice

Father of student killed in Monaco crash calls for justice - Nineteen months after losing his daughter in a fatal road accident in Monaco, Vugar Akhundov, father of 19-year-old Dilara, has issued an open letter to the people of Monaco demanding justice. Dilara, a student at the International University of Monaco, died in December 2023 after a drunk driver crashed at high-speed exiting the Millennium Tunnel. A second student, Ayana, also died, and two others were injured. Akhundov says the driver remains free, while families are left grieving in silence. He’s now launched an online petition calling for a criminal trial and stronger laws against drink driving in the Principality. In his letter, he writes: “I’m not asking for revenge, but for justice.” His daughter, described as a gifted artist, writer, and musician, had dreamed of building her life in Monaco. A memorial was held earlier this year at IUM in honour of both young victims.
