The Louvre museum in Paris remains closed today as investigations continue into yesterday’s burglary. The government has asked local prefects to immediately review existing security measures around French cultural institutions and to take steps to strengthen security if necessary.


Three individuals have been remanded in pre-trial detention in connection with alleged drugs offences in the Bouches-du-Rhone. Authorities seized several kilos of drugs as well as firearms, vehicles and over 4,000 euros in cash in a search of their homes. Gendarmes have said that the accused were part of a structured organisation which carried out home deliveries of narcotics.


Several Nice taxi drivers have been convicted of defrauding the CPAM, the organization which manages French social security healthcare expenses. The drivers were accused of falsifying travel vouchers for several hundred trips which were not made but which were nevertheless billed to the CPAM.


French Interior minister Gerald Darmanin has said that he intends to visit Nicolas Sarkosy in prison, saying in an interview this morning that his security in prison is of great importance. The former French president is due to start a prison sentence tomorrow after being convicted of election financing offences. President Macron met with Nicolas Sarkosy last Friday, with the two reportedly speaking for over an hour.


Forty two per cent of French adults suffer from chronic pain, according to a new survey. The Analgesia Institute, which carries out research into pain, said that there is a “silent pain crisis” in France. Thirty six per cent of respondents reported that they suffered from musculoskeletal pain, with thirty three per cent saying that they had orofacial pain.


Meteo France have yellow warnings for storms in the Var until 6pm this evening and in the Alpes-Maritimes until 8pm. There is also a yellow warning for heavy rain and flooding in the Var until 8pm.

Urinals for women will soon be at events in Europe, the US and Australia. It's after a British start-up raised nearly 1 million pounds to manufacture the products - which can be flat-packed and exported around the world.

And the owner of Gucci has agreed to sell its beauty business to L'Oreal for four billion euros. The two luxury French businesses have joined forces to tap into broader markets and help grow the beauty brands. The transaction's expected to be made during the first half of 2026.
