Trains Halted - Train service between Menton and Ventimiglia was halted due to an Italian police intervention on a train. The SNCF suspended all traffic between the two stations from 11:20 am, with service expected to resume by 1 p.m., though delays and cancellations are anticipated.

Lost Boy in Hospital - A 13-year-old boy hospitalized for eating disorders at Lenval Hospital in Nice escaped without authorization, causing his mother great concern. Despite her efforts to find him, the hospital provided limited information, citing medical confidentiality, and she eventually located her son herself. The hospital defended its procedures, noting that such incidents can occur, while the mother questions the institution’s responsibility and lack of communication.

Wheelchair Basketball Club Robbed - A wheelchair basketball club has been robbed, with thieves stealing three custom-made sports wheelchairs valued at €8,000 each, along with jerseys, food, and supplies in Marseille. Boat Trips Near Toulon - In the Mediterranean near Sanary-sur-Mer (Var), boat trips allow enthusiasts to observe incredible marine mammals like whales, sperm whales, and dolphins in their natural habitat. These species, crucial to the ecosystem, face threats from maritime traffic, noise pollution, and other environmental risks. Protected by the Pelagos Sanctuary, ongoing research helps protect them, and regulations prohibit approaching dolphins closer than 100 meters.

BUSINESS
The UK government is introducing the Employment Rights Bill to provide stronger protections from unfair dismissal, statutory sick pay, and parental leave from day one of employment. The bill aims to benefit millions of workers, including new fathers and low earners, but most changes won't take effect until autumn 2026. While the government calls it the biggest upgrade in workers' rights in a generation, concerns remain about its impact on businesses.

And - According to the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), Chancellor Rachel Reeves needs to find £16bn more, in addition to £9bn in planned tax rises, to meet the UK government's pre-election promises. These commitments include avoiding austerity and boosting public investment, but pressures from health, pensions, and inflation make the task challenging. The IFS suggests that without these funds, public services may face cuts, and additional borrowing or higher taxes, particularly on wealthier individuals, may be required.
