A Brazilian Supreme Court judge has initiated an investigation into Elon Musk after Musk stated that he would reactivate accounts on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, despite the judge's order to block them. Musk claimed that the restrictions had been lifted because the court order was unconstitutional and called for the judge to resign or face impeachment. Failure by X to comply with the order would result in a daily fine of £16,000. The judge accused Musk of launching a disinformation campaign against the Supreme Court. X's Global Government Affairs team stated that it was not authorized to disclose which accounts were affected. The accounts in question were reportedly linked to far-right movements that posted content related to the January 8 riots where supporters of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro stormed various important buildings. The judge, Alexandre de Moraes, is also investigating Bolsonaro and his supporters for their involvement in the riots.
