Monaco student achieves rare perfect score on international baccalaureate

Monaco Student Achieves Rare Perfect Score on International Baccalaureate - A remarkable academic feat has been achieved in Monaco: 18-year-old Étienne Franzi, a student at the International School of Monaco (ISM), has earned a perfect score of 45/45 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, a distinction achieved by only 0.5% of candidates worldwide each year.

Described by the school and its director, Stuart Bryan, as a “rare exploit,” Franzi’s flawless performance included top marks (7 out of 7) in subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, economics, and both French and English literature, earning him a bilingual diploma.

Étienne’s achievement is the highlight of an exceptional year for ISM. For the first time in the school’s 30-year history, 100% of students passed both IB programs (IBDP and IBCP), far exceeding the global pass rates of 81.3% and 76.3%. The class of 2025 at ISM averaged 36.7 points, with 90% scoring 35 or more, and five students scoring above 40. Most graduates will pursue higher education in the UK, with destinations including King’s College London, University of Edinburgh, University of Bath, and Warwick. This milestone year also marked ISM’s move into its new, state-of-the-art campus on Princess Grace Avenue, highlighting the school's growing popularity in Monaco.
