World leaders hail Gaza peace deal as 'huge step' and urge swift humanitarian aid - International leaders have welcomed the announcement of a breakthrough peace deal between Israel and Hamas, brokered as part of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza. French President Emmanuel Macron called it a moment of "immense hope" and urged both sides to fully respect the terms of the agreement, which marks the first phase of a potential two-state solution.

90-day rule for non-EU visitors - As of this Sunday, October 12th, 2025, the EU’s new Entry & Exit System (EES) will strictly enforce the 90-day rule for non-EU visitors to France.  Non-EU citizens can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. Short stopovers count as full days. Travelers must track their days carefully, using tools like the official calculator. Overstaying can lead to fines and future travel restrictions. Visa holders and residents are mostly exempt from EES checks. Remember: it’s your responsibility to monitor your stay—not your employer’s.

Nice airport prepares for drone intrusions – Locally, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, France’s third busiest, faces concerns over drone intrusions following incidents at airports across Europe since mid-September. While drones have flown Munich, Oslo, and Copenhagen, French authorities say no such incidents have occurred at Nice so far, and the airport is preparing to respond if needed.

Train traffic disrupted between Nice and Menton due to suspicious package - Train services between Nice and Menton were heavily disrupted on Thursday afternoon, October 9, due to a suspicious unattended bag found at Monaco station. Bomb disposal teams were deployed, leading to a complete halt in train services in both directions.

Nice to host the EVO this weekend - Nice is hosting EVO (Evolution Championship Series) for the first time in Europe from today until Sunday at the Palais des Expositions. The world’s top fighting game tournament features 5,000 competitors from 93 countries, highlighting Nice’s rising esports profile. Fans can also enjoy a free fan zone at Gare du Sud with giant screens, gaming stations, and an after-party with players.

Marine charity The Animal Fund to mark ten-year anniversary - Marine charity The Animal Fund (TAF) is to mark its 10-year anniversary with a gala at Monaco’s Yacht Club on December 4th. Founded in 2015, TAF fights ocean threats like plastic pollution and whaling across five countries, hosting 500+ events and partnering with schools worldwide. Money raised will fund frontline conservation efforts, highlighting a decade of impact and a renewed mission to protect oceans.

Croissant scented stamp – Finally, France’s post office has launched a croissant-scented stamp to celebrate the iconic pastry. Nearly 600,000 stamps featuring the buttery delight went on sale this week, with strong demand seen in Valence, where collectors queued to buy them. Priced at €2.10, the stamps can be used for international mail and include a souvenir print. This follows last year’s popular baguette-scented stamps released ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Tesla is being investigated by the US government after reports the firm's self-driving cars had broken traffic laws, including driving on the wrong side of the road and not stopping for red lights. An estimated 2.9 million cars equipped with full self-driving tech will fall under the investigation.

The Bank of France has announced that France’s economy is on track to grow 0.3% in the third quarter, matching second-quarter growth, citing strong service sector activity despite political uncertainty and trade tensions.

And – Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has said Wednesday that ministers in his short-term government will forgo severance pay, calling it a symbolic step in the budget discipline France urgently needs.

Football – In the world cup qualifiers last night, Scotland beat Greece 3-1 and in an international friendly England beat Wales 3-0.

And - AS Monaco have dismissed head coach Adi Hütter, making him the first Ligue 1 manager sacked this season. The Austrian, who joined the club in summer 2023, is being replaced by Belgian coach Sébastien Pocognoli, currently in charge of Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise.

Formula One - Williams driver Carlos Sainz has criticised Formula 1's race coverage for prioritising celebrity shots over key racing moments. Speaking to Spanish media, the 31-year-old said last weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix missed crucial action, including his own overtakes and Fernando Alonso's late charge on Lewis Hamilton.

Tennis - Novak Djokovic has admitted he was “just trying to stay alive” as he battled brutal conditions to reach the Shanghai Masters semi-finals. Struggling with heat and humidity, Djokovic vomited during his previous match and called the conditions “very challenging.”
