NEWS
Drugs seized - Police have seized over 25 kg of cannabis and 1.5 kg of cocaine after a sniffer dog led them to an apartment in Vallauris, Alpes-Maritimes. The 44-year-old tenant, in France illegally, is set to face immediate trial in Grasse.

House fire - A house fire broke out this morning, causing major traffic disruptions but no injuries on Rue Rebuffel in Le Cannet. Thirty-one firefighters and eight vehicles were deployed to control the blaze, whose cause remains unknown.

Road accident - Four vehicles, including a police car, have collided last night, injuring four people slightly in Avignon, Vaucluse. Three were taken to hospital, while an officer was treated on site.

Rising violence in Grasse - Grasse’s new public prosecutor says he is deeply concerned about rising drug-related violence and vows to quickly neutralise offenders. He also plans to strengthen victim support and coordinate local agencies to combat organised crime more effectively.

Hiker files complaint after being bitten by guard dogs - A 20-year-old hiker has filed a complaint after being bitten multiple times by livestock guard dogs near Pic du Morgon in the Hautes-Alpes department. Authorities remind hikers to stay calm, avoid sudden movements, and give herding dogs and flocks wide space to prevent attacks.

Roseland Abbey restoration delayed - The historic Roseland Abbey in Nice, meant to be transformed into a climate institute, remains in disrepair as the city and the departmental council dispute responsibility. Despite promises of €10 million in restoration work, delays mean completion may not happen before 2032.

Mountains of trash in the streets - Residents of a Marseille social housing complex are overwhelmed by a year-long garbage pile-up outside their building, attracting rats and insects. The mess stems from neighbours dumping trash in their bins, while authorities and the housing provider dispute responsibility for cleaning it up.
