Drug trafficking report

Drug trafficking report - A report from the French anti-drug agency (Ofast) has warned that drug trafficking in France is increasingly violent and widespread, with no area left untouched. France's Interior Minister calls it a “white tsunami,” referring to the surge in cocaine trafficking. In the first half of 2025, cocaine seizures hit a record 37.5 tons, up 45% from 2024. The report describes traffickers’ violent control over neighbourhoods, turning violence into a “counterculture” that disrupts social order. Last year, 367 drug-related murders or attempts occurred across 173 cities, including small towns. Hitmen are more frequently used, and traffickers sometimes act as “social powers” in their communities, offering services in exchange for silence. The drug trade operates in a pyramid: a few top traffickers control imports (often from abroad), while thousands distribute and sell locally. New methods like delivery services and rented apartments for clients have expanded the market. According to the report.
