Dietary supplements - The magazine 60 million consumers has published a report this morning on the effectiveness of dietary supplements. The French are the first consumers in Europe purchasing nearly two billion euros worth last year. In the report the group looked at 120 different supplements which promise to solve sleep, cold or fatigue problems, to determine their effectiveness and possible dangers to health. Faced with misleading labeling the group has requested a tightening on regulations. Unlike drugs, dietary supplements do not need to prove their effectiveness or safety. Manufacturers must just provide the composition of their products, which are considered foods.
