Changes for the 1st of the month

Changes for the 1st of the month - As with the first of every month in France certain changes will be introduced from today Monday August 1st, including changes to the minimum wage, back-to-school bonus, fuel and the state of health emergency. New automatic revaluation of the Smic (minimum wage) by 2.01% takes place from today. The net hourly minimum wage will therefore increase from 8.58 euros to 8.76 euros and for a full-time worker, the net monthly minimum wage will increase from 1302.64 euros to 1329.06 euros. This is the fourth revaluation of the minimum wage in less than a year after that of May 1, 2022.

The back-to-school allowance will be paid during the second half of August. This social benefit concerns families whose children aged 6 to 18 attend school. Its amount will be 376.98 euros for children between 6 and 10 years old, 397.78 euros for children between 11 and 14 years old and 411.56 euros for children between 15 and 18 years old. The 1st of August also marks the end of the state of the health emergency; as Parliament announced recently, the state of health emergency will end in August. The Scientific Council will meanwhile be dissolved and replaced by a "committee for monitoring and anticipating health risks". Finally, the fuel discount; the government discount of 15 to 18 centimes per litre of gasoline applied automatically at service stations since April 1st is valid until the end of August. Then, from September 1st and until the end of October, this aid will be increased to 30 cents per litre. From November 1st, it will be reduced to 10 cents until the end of the year.
