Mayor of Nice takes to the streets to mark the introduction of a curfew for minors

Mayor of Nice takes to the streets to mark the introduction of a curfew for minors - The mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi has taken to the city’s streets following the introduction of a curfew for minors. The mayor invited the press to the urban supervision centre on Thursday, the first evening of the curfew, which concerns minors under 13 or 16 years old depending on the district. Three areas were covered Rue Trachel, Saint-Roch and Old Nice. The decree is in place until August 31st, but Estrosi has already announced “It will be extended”. Its implementation however may be difficult as in the Moulins area municipal police officers can only intervene upon request of the Prosecutor or the Prefect. In other areas, as officers do not have the right to ask for proof of the age of a young person caught outside between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., they will not be able to do anything unless the national police intervene.
