23-year-old killed, and two others injured in road accident - A 23-year-old man has died, and two others have been seriously injured after a car crashed into a public toilet on the Boulevard du Front de Mer in Hyères in the Var. The accident occurred in the early hours of this morning Monday 25th October. Emergency services took the two injured people to the hospital of Hyeres and Toulon. Police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Mayor of Menton has died at the age of 80 - The mayor of Menton Jean-Claude Guibal has died at the age of 80. Guibal died this morning Monday 25th October victim of a heart attack. Mayor of Menton since March 1989, the former deputy (1997-2017) was currently in his 6th term he had also been a deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes for 20 years.

36th covid death in the Principality - Monegasque health authorities have announced the death of a 76-year-old resident who tested positive for covid. Sunday evening the Princely government announced the 36th coronavirus related death in the Principality, since the start of the epidemic. Six patients, all non-residents, remain hospitalized at the Princess-Grace Hospital and 18 people, showing few symptoms, are still being followed at home.

Strong sea swell sees many parts of the coastline prohibited - Due to a strong sea swell the town of Antibes closed its coastal areas on Sunday. The prefecture of the Alpes Maritimes issued the alert on the entire Riviera coast, advising members of the public to not go swimming. The alert is in place until today.

Demonstration at Port Vauban – Demonstrations have once again been held in Port Vauban in Antibes against the rise in prices. Saturday October 23rd saw boat owners gather in front of the “Quai des Milliardaires” to protest against the increase in mooring prices.

One boat owner with a mooring for the last 20 years Eric Boulle, described the increase complaining that for 2022, the annual cost of his berth went from 1,500 euros to 2,800 euros… to reach 5,200 euros in 2023. However the new general manager of the port Franck Scarlatti, said that “nobody had been taken by surprise and that the pricing policy had been announced in the offer to the municipality and validated by the port council” adding “that the prices have been frozen for a long time and that many boaters have benefited from a place of general interest, at very low cost."

Compared with the ports of Cannes, Villefranche, Beaulieu and Nice: on boats less than 13 meters, Port Vauban is 5% more expensive than the average.

Grande Braderie de Saint Tropez - The Grande Braderie de Saint Tropez takes place this weekend. For three days from 29th October until Sunday 31st the streets of Saint Tropez will become a large open-air store with plenty of great offers.

RTE presents report - The electricity transmission network has estimated that “low-carbon electricity by 2050 can be achieved at a controllable cost in France".  RTE has produced a report in which it presents "six scenarios of electricity systems" and energy mixes to "have low-carbon electricity in 2050".

The study is to be submitted to the government today. Entitled Energy Futures 2050 and launched in 2019 at the request of the government, it was made public today and presents "six scenarios of electricity systems" and energy mix "guaranteeing security of supply" and allowing France to "have low-carbon electricity in 2050".

Baguette is expected to increase - The price of a baguette is expected to increase in French bakeries. While the National Confederation of French bakery and pastry say it “would be logical for there to be an increase” the additional increase comes when many households are suffering from the rise in energy prices.
