Masks-The prefect of the Alpes Maritimes is due to decide whether to reintroduce mask wearing in outdoor spaces as the delta variant of coronavirus continues to spread fast.

The government alert level of 200 cases per 100,000 people was passed on Thursday with 255 cases registered.

The prefect of the Var has already reintroduced mask wearing in 58 towns across the department even though the infection rate is substantially lower than in the Alpes Maritimes.

Monaco-Mask wearing is mandatory again in outside areas of the Principality of Monaco from tomorrow the 24th of July.

Cases of the delta variant have been increasing and authorities say they have to act to reduce the spread of the virus.

People visiting Monaco from the Alpes Maritimes and the Imperia region of Italy will be required to show a health pass before being allowed into a bar or restaurant.

Get vaccinated-The message from the government today is to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

The delta variant of the virus is spreading fast and some regions have already reintroduced the wearing of face masks in outside areas and there is even a curfew in force in the south west.

Further restrictions could follow if the virus continues to spread.

There has already been talk of local lockdowns and use of the health pass is to be extended on the 1st of August.

The government says that vaccination is the key to escape and there are plenty of doses available.

New number-President Macron has changed his phone and his phone number after reports said that he had been targeted by the Pegasus spyware.

The development comes after media reports said that the President and other government ministers had been flagged for potential surveillance by Morocco.

The Elysee Palace has rejected claims that Mr Macron’s phone was infected with the spyware but its been decided that his device and number should be changed as a precaution.
