France’s new government is relying on far-right support as it faces no-confidence vote

France’s new government is relying on far-right support as it faces no-confidence vote – The new government in France led by conservative Prime Minister Michel Barnier, will have to lean on the support of the far right as it faces a no-confidence vote in parliament today Tuesday 8th October. The motion was called by left-wing alliance New Popular Front, which won the most votes in the June-July parliamentary elections but did not gain an outright majority and was then sidelined by President Emmanuel Macron when he chose his new prime minister. The far-right National Rally, which counts 125 lawmakers, has said it would abstain from voting a no-confidence motion for now. Far-right leader Marine Le Pen said she decided to “give a chance” to the government.
