Carrefour staff in Fontvieille expected to walk out

Carrefour staff in Fontvieille expected to walk out – Staff at the Carrefour supermarket in Fontvieille Monaco have warned of further walkouts. Following a Christmas strike and walkouts on December 30th and 31st to defend their purchasing power, many employees of Carrefour Fontvieille in Monaco say they are “demotivated but are not giving up”.

Union representatives are expected to meet this week to see what action to take. A hundred employees responded to the strike notices launched in November and during the Christmas period. "Each time, there was the same request." An end-of-year bonus of 1000 euros (initially, this bonus was 500 euros then it was revised to 1000 euros once the ministerial decree of Monaco came out, then again revised to 500 euros). According to unions "the management's proposal for a 2.5% increase in salaries - which represents barely 40 euros gross per month - and a bonus of 100 euros not tax-exempt is not sufficient".
