Update on the forest fires in the Gironde

Update on the forest fires in the Gironde – Forest fires have flared up again in the Gironde, a region already badly hit by fires in July. 18 houses have been destroyed but, no victims have been deplored. 6,000 hectares of forest have already burned in the sector, including 5,000 in the last twelve hours. In total, nearly 6,000 people had to leave their homes. The evacuation of the town of Belin-Béliet, where the 18 houses have been destroyed by the flames and which has around 2,000 inhabitants, took place this Wednesday morning. In view of the windy weather conditions, the situation is considered "very unfavourable" by the firefighters.
